Wow, I have to give them their props, the Indy Mogul guys are awesome at what they do.
Now to watch the video. :)
"Will my young memories of porn be considered child porn?"
Classic, I almost died laughing
HAHAH! "life is like a box of chocolats"
haha that quote is a classic! PURE CLASSIC GOODNESS!
yeahyuhhh! Forest gump + Indy Mogul = amazingly awssome test film XD XD XD
Thats awsome!!
your gay diablo films
your fat, anyways how old are you
someone write a comment to me my real name is mike
jared, ur too good at building stuff!! how much can i pay you for your awesome constructing/building skillz.
I AGREE!!!!!
Amazing! I loved the test footage! If you could put up some build plans that would be very helpful! Great Job guys!
build plans will be released here on the blog in the near future.
it's quite direction-heavy and we're gonna get working on it really soon. (but first we're all gonna go pass out for a while)
Please let us know where on the site/blog the build plans are. I'm thinking of having my school's contruction program try to build one for us, but I want to give them plans in addition to the video. Great job!!!!
that's pretty awesome, it would suck if you let go of the handle when its way up there
not to be a cheap bastard but $80 is a lot! but i guess it cheaper then buying a new one.
$80 expensive? It's that or a 600 dollar skycrane jr. Which do you prefer?
I'd chose the first one
Wow those shots in the test film were amazing!!! nice job guys ... and question .. what was the song you guys used while jared was building??
that was steve and his friends jamming out. they recorded it one night a while back.
how come it came on so late?
Omg post intructions plz!
0k! 9:30! that sucks
u guys are freaking awesome, child porn memories lol
you think you could post some written instructions and a list of everything you need to get for this?
i think he was talking to fast to write that down
this is with out doubt the best eps. you guys have done
Ditto.
Lord
you're gay for thinking that......reply below.
thanks this will be helpfull
My head hurts...
did i just not notice a counterweight or was there no counterweight added to this?
counterweighting will be addressed when we get to the "pimp my jib" episodes...
along with the axial pan/tilt add-on and the dolly we're gonna make for this crane. but you guys gotta wait (just like us. because i haven't made these things yet)
cool, and thanks for responding so quickly even if it's almost midnight. Can't wate for that episode now
Hey, Jared, how would you collapse the arm part? Because that seems really long and it looks like it would be really difficult to fit inside say...my four-door car.
Nice job, though! You're quite the handy man.
Now, I've actually made a proto-type sort of jib out of my tripod, monopod, and a wooden vice that would attach the tripod and the monopod together. It worked out pretty well. I may have to show you the video. I think you would get a kick out of it.
AWESOME! great episode! can't wait for Monday (even though i have school) :(
Awesome Job Steve & Jared!
I for One Will try and Never Give you two shit for being late!, it was great and sorry for all of your troubles with this one!
So whats next week!lol:)
I was Gwiz, but I forgot my password...
really creative idea...the only downfall though is that you wont be able to tilt the camera angle at all though so once the camera is higher than the actor/actress you will lose them...but then the crane is only 80 dollars...and might i say for the job on what that can do...80 dollars is cheap
well, if you take out the bolt on the bottom board, then angling the back upright should angle the front upright to match.
awesome arm

Holy crap! that was awsome!!!
It looks like a long and hard time to make, but it takes some pretty SWEET shots.
That was pretty awesome. It takes some practice to get the thing to work right but it sure works well. There are quite a few videos on YouTube of people using their cranes and lots of sites online about cranes and jib arms and making them for cheap and whatnot. Nice job guys. I love the last question in the test film. Nice one, Steve.
Thats kool you guys should make a track dolly next.
Insane!!
Very well done! :D
who was that
brilliant stuff
With all the tension on the pivoting bolts (with bolts pounded through undersized holes) doesn't this contraption have a really high "squeak" and "shudder" potential? What kind of options are there for lubricating the joints to make the movement smoother/quieter?
Nope! It's actually silent for the large majority of the time.
Awesome!
Thanks for the tip you guys!!
it's very cool and professional, however the test film make me throw up because it looked so dizzy
Dude I cannot believe you guys built a jib! And a decent one at that! So the next question is, if I'm too lazy to build my own then how much does it cost to rent :)
I started making this in separate parts (because I saw you are going to release modifications etc) and I was wondering if its possible to make an extendable piece making te base pole higher. I was thinking of using 4 1/2" thick pieces of wood for the base and make a hollow square out of them. Then drill holes every 1/2" or 1" on that piece and the fitting piece. Now, this wont change too much of the effect, but I think it would be very nice for fine tuning.
Hey guys, great episode. Could you make some build plans to go with it. Anyway, keep up the good work ;)
it really disappoints me to see you guys using auto focus.
anyways,love the vid
It's a lot easier, (and lighter) to find an old speaker tripod. I picked one up for a couple bucks at a yard sale. Then you just build the crane part out of aluminum piping. Instead of a lazy suesan I spent the majority of my money to buy a hefty fluid head that I just bolted to the speaker tripod.
that's true, but a lighter jib also means it's more wobly
This really AWESOME guys, I've been looking for some time now on how to rig one of these bad boys up, SO THANX, however do you have any work instructions / blue prints that I can print out?? That would be way cool.
detailed build instructions will up on the indymogul blog tomorrow!
dude I asked you guys to do this one a long time ago and thats so wierd cause i was just lookin at jibs on ebay for hundereds and thought out of nowhere indy mogul update came here and its right one top....awsome timing guys
fucking awesome, lol im trying to spot familiar land marks in the test film so i could know where in brooklyn you guys are lol im such a stalker
i totally think that the jib arm is awsom in the past all i have used is a broom stick plastic bag and duck tape but this seems more camera freindly . thanks
Oh Steve....you....thing, you.
Awesome tut guys, the test film looked amazing, so smooth.
When are the build plans going to be up? I'm glad this is up.
great episode!
Its kinda long.
Someone has porn on the brain.
I believe he said "young love".
"jared wrote in reply on November 4, 10:50 pm:

....Oo Do you think you'll have them up by tomorrow night?
Could you post some build plans for this? Its really cool but its easer to look at paper when building something then to keep rewinding it get all of the information.
That's awsome. I shall definately try to build one of those!
