Nice show as always good job fellas.

For the first question, I'm not sure if you answered it in a different way, but a lot of cameras have an option to change the shutter speed. Usually 1/60 or 1/100 will solve the "line" problem.

I can't imagine Indy Mogul being named any other names, I mean "I watch Film o' Riffic" doesn't sound as AWESOME as "I watch Indy Mogul"

Hey I wanted to reply to getting footage onto a television screen. Now I imagine your real question was how do I just film it w/o the lines showing up for like vids of guitar hero or whatnot, but if you were wanting to put video on the screen and you have after effects an easy way to do it is keep your actor out of the way of the screen. Then motion track all four coners of the screen and use that tracking data to corner pin the footage you want to use onto the tv screen. :)

A great, easy, but semi-pricey way to film on a TV is using a capture card-

  • Justin (anon) wrote on January 3, 6:58 pm

The line sync issue is caused from a shutter speed inconstancy. If you can find the shutter speed adjustment on your camera then shoot the tv and play with the settings to find the speed setting that is in sync with television.

movie mcguyver... so much awesomeness would fry brains. i'm sure you only picked indymogul because the sheer magnitude of awesomess caused by the name movie mcguyver would wreak havoc on our puny insignificant brains...

by the way; macguyvering is a word in dutch youth vocabulary/slang. ofcoarse it means something allong the lines of "a quick fix using any item available"

what do you do if you want to shoot a high quality dark looking scene. Because it would be hard to add extra light to make it look good but you cant have light because its a dark scene... ?

  • Roddimus Prime wrote in reply on January 10, 12:56 pm

First you want a camera that is good in low light. You will have to do your own research on that as my experience with different cameras is limited.

Second you would likely be better off shooting it with a little too much light then turning it down the light levels in post production. It is a lot better than turning it up in post production believe me T_T

Third if its outside you could shoot at dawn or dusk (I know shitty hours) and you would get enough light to be decent aswel as be dark enough to be realistically nighttime.

I am trying to capture video on Final Cut and I keep getting dropped frames. How do I prevent this?

  • baffie wrote on January 7, 11:03 am

That TV question, you answered it has something to do with the scan rate. Is that in any way related to the speed of the TV, you know the 50Hz, 60Hz thing. Because on most LCD Monitors you can change that. But please, don't shoot me if that has nothing to do with this.
