Ardvarky be with you! Its anarchy with more aardvarks!
the magic bullet is a blender though
Erik, who threw the ball at yea?
I would get revenge on them:P
awesome- Thanks For the mention guys really appreciate it.
If you are using the camera's built in mic, then like Eric said, your problem is probably just "handling noise." If you are using a boom mic or something like that and still have the problem when you move the camera, it's probably a loose connection -- use some tape to secure the mic plug into your camera, and you won't get the evil government noises when the plug jiggles as you move the camera.
yea i just got a boom mic and the soundquality is much better
come on ! show pictures of your girlfriend !
For some reason I can't comment on your yt video, but anyways, I always watch your videos here in the site; I prefer watching them here. :) great video ending x)

fake blood never ruined any of my shirts. maybe i just have mutant food coloring or something, but the blood you would never know that this one white shirt has been stabbed and shot and covered in fake blood.
I'm sure Joe will crack up when I tell him thousands of people saw him hit Shawn's head off in his boxers!

Hey Eric, I have a couple questions. 1) Is that really a bubble pipe you "smoke"? 2) Where did you get the bubble pipe? 3) When did Indy Mogul start Q and Eric? 4) Was it started in NY, who started it?
nice! i love justin's shirt, threadless rocks! no one ever buys my tees tho :(
haha but seriously, awesome stuff!
there are 2 more major things that effect the "Film look"
1) color grading
2)depth of field
hahaa erik gets funnier every episode. :]
Is there any way to use an editing program to edit a semi-digital camera that uses tapes?
P.S. if there is no such thing as a semi-digital camera, then how about just a non digital?
What's diggi'n doc?
I have a question for Q and Erik. Here I go:
How can I make a room look dark without screwing up the quality? A good reference for this would be to watch the Matrix. Seriously, they have a lot scenes that look dark, like when Neo goes to the machine city and stuff. I basically want to be able to do that. Thank you, and keep these videos coming. They're awesome!!!
Shoot with a lot of light and then jack up your F stop or shutter speed to make it look much darker than it really is.
Hey man. I just got done with a few month long horror movie shoot. The idea that your looking for is Directed lighting, but the key is keeping your gain/exposure on your camera set to zero...gain=badness. Cameras tend to automatically make their sensors for sensitive when light gets to low. its makes it so your camera can see what you see in dimly lit situations but it washes the image with noise. First set your cameras exposure to manual and turn the gain to 0db. If you camera is a camcorder it might be labeled exposure or brightness. Then find ways of lighting your set pieces and subjects that are crucial in the shot while leaving alot of it unlit. Also lighting things at different angles (generally use alot of side lighting keep it a little offset so it still partially lights the front of the subject and maybe a reflector on the other side so its not pure black on half of his face. Its a pain in the butt I know. But its worth the work. you can also pull it down in post but its much more complicated, and not as effective.
HELLO JUSTIN I'M HERE FOR YOUR SOUL!!!! (chuck norris is not a noun)
I got a new camcorder and my computer wont recognize it. Is it the fire wire cord? Or do I need to put a special setting on my camera. Also the cam doesn’t have a mic input, is there any other way I can use my boom mic?
Check to see if you recording your video from a simple video editing software like Windows Movie Maker or whatever Mac uses.
And the answer to your second question:
No
Also make sure your camera is on playback mode and not record mode.
One thing I learned from this film was what a "grip" was. I never knew what a grip was until I saw this.
Hey Eric. You forgot the almight DOF adapters. I think beyond 24 frames per seconds and lighting the Lens Adapters are the most effective look. they can cost some serious cash but the effect is absolutely rediculous. www.cinevate.com has some footage in the forums of there product in action. There is also DIY websites on how to make these. Worth all the time and effort. One thing, they are over a few hundred dollars in you make one, over 700 if you buy one. worth the money if your competing in festivals
Red Rock makes one as well.
The problem with them is that you loose two stops of light, which means you have to light it like a film, and can't get away with as much as you could with digital.
Just wanted to add, if nobody else already did, that for the questions of "the weird crackly pop sounds from your camera" and "why your cameras built in mic sucks" is that the built in mic picks up the sound of your camera recording to the tape. This sound, albeit faint, is picked up due to the proximity of the mic to the tape being recorded onto and results in those annoying sounds. Doesn't always interfere, but it's still annoying and can mess up your shots. Just something everyone should realize.
The tape recording mechanism will make a constant sound, but if the crackling sound is intermittent, it is probably the motors on the autofocus and/or zoom in the camera.
wicked cool. funniest so far!!
it takes so damn long to load up on here but mabey cause my computer's like 6 years old and has so much crap on it
-_-'
hey Eric i dunno if u got my message before so I'll say it again i was wondering if u could use this question on Q and Eric. i was wondering what was the name of the sound on the free sound project off of the episode with the kick ass laser cannon? and i was wondering if u could use these ideas for BFX. 1.do a whole Gansta scene with your buddies and use whole bunch of explosions and props. then like tell us how u did it all like what props did u use, what program ext.... that would be awesome 2.do a whole star wars scene and tell us what programs because like i would love for u to do a show with a light saber with out using adobe after effects like something like that. it be much better if u made a prob that could do the whole light saber glow and stuff it be much easier.+ with people who cant afford adobe after effects it be easier on them.also could u do the thing that lighting comes out your fingers and burn marks on the wall. 3.do a car chase scene that would be cool with guns and explosions of course that would be a kick ass show. 4.music video 5.how to do the whole Bourne Supremacy camera views those were pretty good camera angles.made it look like u were right there when the film took place. 6. 50 caliber sniper rifle. i need a good looking sniper rifle for my upcoming film+i don't know what kind of camera angle its called but when a guy looks through the scope and the camera makes it look like u are looking right through the scope. anyway i hope any of these ideas help u Eric if u need any more ideas just email me at zanderkilby@hotmail.com i hope i can help anyway ttyl
you were wearing a paper clip thing.....ya......soooooooo was that really necessary?
hey Erik i been making short films with a regular camcoder for about a year, but now i wanna buy a more "profesional" one so what do you recomend for a begginer?
Love your stuff dudes! Keep it up.
hey i really like indy mogul its my favorite computer series, im trying to become an animator but i cant afford stuff like adobe flash and stuff i have to work with windows movie maker
I got a question ...
Why do people use green as a green screen.
whats so special about green ? and where can i get good sound tracks and what is the best program to put everything together with ?
green doesnt match any color on your body, so a "tan" screen would make your skin disappear (a bit).
if you have a mac, get final cut. if not, i dont know. but the show has answered these questions before, so maybe check some old episodes of 'Q and Erik'
Could you cut the shit and just give us the info? maybe thats why your viewers are going down. your shows used to be awesome. now its chopped full of inside jokes. and your funny 10% of the time to 14+ people. if its a 30 second show so what atleast it has information.
thank you for saying this
It seems like every time I watch one of these movies I see someone on there wearing a shirt that I own.
cool i wanna see the movie that steve was in. The Attack of the Gay Banana!
www.youtube.com/bonekicker i need an idea for a fight movie
One thing that can be making noise is lens cap sometimes smacks against the camera, not enough people realize that. I simply un-attach it, and put it on later.
Also changing shutter speed for fight scenes is quite often what they do in the real films. So adjusting that can make high speed or intense scenes look just that.
I solved the crackling on my camera by placing a thin piec of foam on the microphone, like you would on a shotgun microphone.
Hi, I'm an indy film maker from mexico, been doing working for several companies for over 10 years now, started to make my own feature movies since 2004, still learning, as if that ever stops! anyway, been watching your turorials and i have learn quite a lot, thank you and keep it up, you guys are real movie savers, since my personal productions had been micro budget i kind of came up with a cheap way to have a kick ass gun fight scene without using a single blank, I've notice you guys have made several notes to makers in the states not to go around with real looking guns on them, here in mexico is a little diferent, you just go to city hall and let them now what are you going to be doing and no problem, anyway, I have no problem in sharing this if you guys are interested let me know, saying "hasta luego" from south of the border:
Antonio Herrera
Way to go Justin, Sufjan Stevens is greaaaaaaat!
Hey I've got a question for you Erik. I'm making a zombie movie, and I want to know how I can make the cool "Zombie biting off parts off guys neck" effect. Like have a zombie bite a guy and rip off neck tissue. In "Shaun of the Dead" you can see an example of what I want. If you could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
