Wesley's Weekly HOW TO: Green Slime

POSTED BY Wesley Scoggins, 22 October 2008

Since Halloween is coming up, I thought I would do a few things, that would be useful for the upcoming Holiday. This is a really simple recipe for non-toxic slime (so that you can use it as drool), that I think would be perfect for a variety of uses for Halloween.

First, get your ingredients together. For this recipe, I am using (like I said) a very simple combination of Corn Syrup, Milk Cream (as it's a bit thicker and a bit more opaque than regular milk), and food coloring.

First pour in your corn syrup. I poured in about half a cup for this.

Then I added in the cream, about a forth of a cup.

Then 10 drops of green food coloring (like I said, it could just as easily be yellow, orange, or blue, or a combination of those, just green seems like a good color for slime.)

Now stir until it's well blended together, and it's a nice bright green, add more green if you want it darker.

As is, it is viscous enough to hold it's shape rather well. If you want to thicken it up, put it in the fridge overnight and it'll be thicker as it gets colder.

If you want a more translucent slime, I would suggest just using the corn syrup, or if you want a much thicker slime for external use only, blend together KY Jelly, Petroleum Jelly, and food coloring, you can get a nice vibrant slime that can easily be used to coat costumes or whatever else you need to cover in slime.

Hey Guys- It's Alan K here.... once upon a time, way before I worked at Next New Networks and
Indy Mogul, I was the Slimemeister at Nickelodeon. Not officially, but whenever Nickelodeon traveled to
an event like Nick Takes Over Your School, I'd go along and mix the green slime. They even to took
me to Australia and Tasmania. And once, I mixed the slime that got dumped on Steven Spielberg
at Universal Studios. For many years, I was sworn to secrecy about the receipe of Nickelodeon
green slime. But here, for the first time, are the ingredients I used whenever Nick went on the
    road. Don't tell anybody!

    - a bucket, water, a large wooden spoon to mix

    - 10 bottles of green food coloring. A combo of yellow and blue will work if there isn't enough
    green.

    - 3 or 4 boxes of oatmeal. A box of cream of wheat is optional.

-2 or 3 jars of apple sauce.

-AND a bottle of vegtable oil.

Pour oatmeal in bucket... add water... stir.... gradually add food coloring and apple sauce until
thick and goopy. NOTE*** use hot water if you can, oatmeal will thicken and be more disgusting
that way. Add vegtable oil. This will give the mixture it's slime effect. RIght before you slime somebody
mix one last time to bring all the contents up from the bottom.

At large events, I'd buy a dozen buckets and 12x the amount of ingredients and spend the morning mixing.
Don't eat this stuff, though I don't think there's anything that would poison you. Happy Halloween!

This is neat and I bet it is tasty too. Could you use red food coloring and have a vampire like drool? Wonder if it would work in a squirt gun? I will have to try this one on the great pumpkin.
