Hello everyone! And welcome to the first edition of the brand new 10 Minute Movie House, where each week, I take the films you submit on the forums, I pick the best one for that week, and I post it here on the blog (and over at Indy Mogul's Vimeo Page, and the 10 Minute Movie House Channel, also over at Vimeo, to maximize the exposure of your film) for all to see. I do this every week and show off the winner's EVERY SUNDAY, so make sure to submit regularly, and check back every Sunday here on the blog to see if your short won!

Enough of that though, this week's winner of the first ever 10 Minute Movie House is Jordan Montreuil's short film "Walnut", featuring a spy story transplanted into the mundane world of a grocery store. Check it out, and make sure to check out Jordan's website here, and some additional behind-the-scenes video here.

Good job Jordan! I can't wait to see what you guys submit next week, because this week was fantastic, and I was so happy with the response. Hope to see more fantastic videos from everybody this week!

P.S. - Remember to Subscibe to the 10MMH Channel Over at Vimeo to get weekly updates from the competition!

    That was exceptionally good!

    It was very good...

A few things I didn't like were the overly scripted lines. It just seemed really cheesy in spots.

The overall look was fantastic though.

do u work at that store, have a friend that works there, or did u go gorilla style and just start filming? (curious how u were able to get a store)

liked the look, like the shots, but i didn't get the ending. could somebody please explain it to me?

  • WesScog wrote on September 15, 7:52 pm

I interpreted it as meaning she's not really a spy, and just made up the story because she is really lonely and bored.

At first I was annoyed that I didn't win. Then I watched. EXCELLENT!

That was good. I thought the girl didnt really seem real good because how she talked, quiet and a little cheesy. THe REST WAS FANTASTIC!

Thank you all for your feedback. I appreciate all constructive criticism.

    As for Sanftner's question:

I used to work at the store. They were pretty resilient to people shooting in the store (I had seen numerous people with cameras kicked out) but I knew exactly who to talk to and exactly what to say. I partially lied and said it was for a school project. Thankfully, I got permission to do it.

If anyone has any other questions, please feel free to ask.

    Just a small thing.
When the shot changes, so does the background music sometimes.

The male lead was excellent. How was the black and white scene done?
