Indy Mogul
Wesley's Weekly Presents... Monster Hands
Yes I know, I am still, as we say indisposed, with a variety of things going on right now. But really this isn't a bad thing, because Indy Mogul's own Arissa Beck, made up a wonderful tutorial that she rightly deserves mad props for.
Check it out, and tell Arissa how much you appreciate her hard work.

Supplies
- Pair of latex gloves
- Liquid Latex
- Crème make-up
- Spirit gum
- Cotton balls
- Face/ baby powder
- Brushes and Sponges
- Crepe hair

Take one of your gloves and powder the inside of the glove. Even if the gloves are pre-powder. This will aid you in removing them so they don’t tear.

After you’ve powered the inside liberally, put your glove on. Start by gluing your index and middle fingers together with your spirit gum. Next glue your ring and pinky fingers together. *tip: if you have trouble holding your fingers together while the spirit gum it drying, wrap a low tack masking tape around your fingers to hold them together.

When you know your spirit gum is dried carefully remove the glove. To make my application of the other steps easier, I stuffed the fingers and palm with cotton balls and toilet paper. Fill the glove until it is firm.

Thinly spread several of the cotton balls apart. Start by filling in the gaps between the glued fingers. This will give a fuller look to your monster hands and help blend the fingers together. I usually follow the structure of human hands when adding more cotton. I will build up the knuckles and accentuate the veins. You can add the cotton however you’d like to achieve the look you want.

After your cotton is applied add another layer of latex over the cotton. The cotton absorbs more latex so this layer will take much longer to dry. Again the hair dryer is your friend.

When you are done with the top, use the same steps to add detail and texture to the palm. Apply cotton all over the hand to give the whole surface a creepy texture.

Now it’s time for the make-up. If you don’t have the certain color you need, remember you can always mix one. I didn’t have any yellow or enough green so I mixed some colors. I always buy several tubes of white crème make-up for this purpose. I found an airtight container, squeezed some white crème make-up into it and then added food coloring as my dye. You can do this to achieve any color you could possibly need with some basic color theory mixing knowledge.

First put down a base of a medium green color all over your hand.

Then add shadows and highlights on your hand. I darkened my green by adding small amounts of brown to it. And I used a little green and yellow as my highlights. Highlight the knuckles and veins. Shadow the sides and insides of the fingers, as well as the valleys between your knuckles and veins.

For the palm I made the whole area a few shades lighter. I added details and lines with my shadow color.

To add a little more depth and detail, I used a textured sponge dipped in brown. I spotted the hand lightly all over.

When your make-up is done, you can add fake nails. I just clipped these and shaped them with scissors to make them more monster like. I then brushed some black crème make-up on to them.
Un-stuff your glove and it’s ready to wear after 24hours to let the make-up completely dry. You can also add a light layer of hair spray to help seal the make-up. Just take care of them and you can use them over and over.

I made two examples. A swampish monster and werewolf or beast monster type hand. These can both be applied to the costumes Indy Mogul has shown you in the past.
