I think you can make a movie with almost no buget, and make it look really good. All you really need is a decent camera, lights, and actors. I made a movie without spending any money what so ever, and it turned out pretty good.
im in the middle of making a movie now.we are running on a tight budget of 100.00 dollars and we are 50.00 dollars into it now!we are filming with a sony hd harddrive camera and a panasonic mini dv camera and a shoot gun mic that we got 2 weeks ago.so yea i think you can!
Here's the thing. We have made tones of movies for less than a hundred bucks. The difference here is that we are trying to make an action movie that you might pay to see in a theater and possibly not even realize that its not a 20 million dollar movie. Which means there has to be some pretty big stuff in it. (The script was written with stuff that could be achieved under a 25 thousand dollar budget. But without that, we are looking at depending on some pretty generous and faithful friends.) I don't think its totally impossible, but I haven't decided if I am willing to go that route yet. So far all of you guys seem pretty confident though. I think if enough people wanted to see it happen, I would go for it. (Maybe I would be homeless, but I would go for it.)
I believe that it is possible to make a feature-like film on a low budget. I'm currently working on a film that has been in production for two years. We shoot with a Canon XL2 (prob. the most expensive thing we own) and then everything else is just what we managed to scrap together. A lot of our shots looks really good, you just have to take time, do your hw, and play around with it.
I totally believe it is possible to make a feature film on little to no budget. I'm banking on it actually. I have a film I'm doing now shooting on a panasonic DVX pro100 B. I've built a camera crane out of 2x4's and plywood for a bout 50 bucks, I have a cast that is working for nothing but food and the opportunity to be in a film but I screened them for the part mostly going with theater students, my crew is limited at the moment and that is what is hindering be a little, I need a new DOP because my previous fell of the face of the earth but it is definitely possible.
I think you can, especially with the friends base that you have. I would point to ( I know I hated the thought of a chick flick but it turned out to be very good) Bridges of Madison County. If you took out the big name stars and just used an actual old farmhouse you could effectively have the same movie. It had no special effects, just great camera work, great actors and a cool storyline. (Bridges of Madison County?? Ok you can throw up now lol )
Awesome, I've been waiting for another update!
