Wesley's Weekly HOW TO: Blood Spray
So you loved Erik's Chainsaw Arm, but you also want to know how to get a nice blood spray coming off of it when you're slicing up zombies with your handy-dandy chainsaw arm?
Well fear not because I am here to show you how to get a really simple basic blood spray for almost nothing.

Get a simple water bottle, remove the cap, and cut some slits in it, kind of like a tiny shower head.

You want thin wide slits as opposed to round holes because you want a more spread out "spray" pattern as opposed too a more condensed "squirt" pattern.

For the "blood" I suggest making it a bit more watery than normal, so I go about a 1-3 ratio with water, so about 5 ounces of fake corn syrup blood (With extra red to make it darker) and about 10 ounces water.

I suggest making sure you have an extra bottle cap without any slits in it so when you shake up the blood it doesn't get everywhere.

With a single full bottle I got a nice steady spray for a good 15-20 seconds. More than enough to drench your actors with a nice arterial spray. Just get your "sprayer" to stand behind your camera and spray at your actors, it's got more than enough distance to hit them with your "sprayer" well out of frame.
Also I would suggest putting extra food coloring in the bottle, because as it becomes more spread out it gets kind of "pink". Also, adding a little bit of milk might help make it more opaque.
To reuse it, just blow into it to pop the bottle back into normal shape.
There you go, a hyper-cheap, super-simple way to get fake blow-back spray from sword wounds, chainsaw cuts, and gun shot wounds.
