Hmm. A strange one. I agree with the last comment but at the same time, its kind of sad how things have become with films. I have a friend, who was watching "No Country..." on his iphone, instead of watching it, for FREE, at my cinema. The idiot. But i guess thats what it comes down to in my opinion. I think if you really want to SEE a film, go see it in a cinema, if you can, and if you can afford it these days, but there is nothing wrong with having a film, or a few, on a portable device such as the iphone, if you really like it, just so you can watch it, if say, you're needing inspired. But at the same time, i kinda disagree with myself too. Shit. Imagine someone seeing Irreversible or Requiem for the 1st time on an iphone? Dear God. But Billy Madison...? Well. Not so bad!

i would agree with him to some extent. I personally am a HUGE fan of the cinematic experience (obviously) but the video feature on the ipods and iphones was not designed with the idea of quality in mind as much as it was with the idea of portibility. While i would rather watch a movie on a huge widescreen with surround sound, it doesnt really fit in the back of my pocket. so until it does, an itouch will just have to do

While its true to a certain extent, I would think (as an artist) he would be excited at the new narrative possibilities an always-on always-with you device could present. I sure am, and I'll definitely be making iPhone specific video art. Sure, watching Eraserhead on an iPhone would be a less than optimal experience - too many distractions around you in most cases. I do think one can get completely wrapped up in a video on the "tiny screen". I know I have, at least.
