Hey Mogulers, I am back with a new effect this week, Extendable Claws! I know that we've covered aspects of the Werewolf Transformation before, but one part that I always liked is the part where the claws extend out of the normal fingers as the transformation is taking place. Well it's been requested, so I thought I would try to figure out a way to do this effect on the cheap. 

 

 

First, start out with three wooden dowels, one of medium size, and two of very thin size (smaller than your fingers by at least half), and four fake fingernails. 

 

 

 

 First, measure out a section about the same width as your palm with the larger dowel. 

 

 

Then cut it out. 

 

 

Now, take the thin dowels, and measure from about the tip of your finger, to about 3/4 to 4/5 from your finger tips to your wrist. 

 

Then do that for each of your fingers. 

 

 

Then spread out your fingers, and glue them into the same positions.

 

 

Now, take the fake fingernails and glue them to the ends, then sharpen them into claws with a nail trimmer. 

 

 

Now, all you have to do is line it up to your fingers then with the palm facing towards the camera.

 

Then just pust them up...

 

 

And the nails slide into view like they are growing. 

 

Now for attaching them, you can just use my "fake fingernails" tutorial, and easily cut between making them grow and having them on your hands.
