Wesley's Weekly HOW TO: Cheap Knife Glove

In celebration of October and the beginning of MOGULWEEN, all this month I am going to feature cheap ways to improvise cheap props from your favorite horror films! This week I am featuring a classic signature prop from the "A Nightmare on Elm Street"-series, your very own Freddy Kruegar-style KNIFE GLOVE!

Start with a basic workglove. You could go with almost anykind, but I went with this one because it was pretty cheap, and looks a lot like leather.

Now disembowel a soda can, just like in my Gauntlet tutorial.

Now, cut it into 5 segments. 4 smaller segments for each finger (except the thumb), and a larger section for the top of the hand.

Now, stack the "finger" segments togethe, and trim them into a sharper "fingernail" looking tip.

Like this. Then...

Cut the finger sections into segments "like this" so you'll actually be able to articulate them.

Now, get a piece of poster paper (not poster board which is thicker, I prefer poster paper because it's still pretty thick, BUT it is so thin it can look "razor thin"). Sketch out the shape of the "knife blade" then...

Cut them all out.

Then paint them silver to give them a nice metallic sheen.

I gave the finger and hand sections a brass paintjob, then painted the glove a dirty brown to give it a older dirty look.

I attached the top segments with hot glue (You'll most likely NOT want to wear the glove incase it melts or soaks through and burns your hand, be careful!).

I cut the tips of the segments with a pair of scissors, cutting a slit to slide the "blades" into, then hit each with a dab of hot glue.

Then glued them in place as well.

Then it's just a matter of distressing and dirtying it up to add some depth and "realism" to the metal, so it actually looks old and worn and used, and... There you go, your very own Freddy Glove for cheap!
