Wesley's Weekly HOW TO: Bulging Veins
Got a request kind of recently in regards to how to use make-up to make it look like you have some really intense bulging veins. This seemed simply enough so I thought I would try to make some myself on the cheap from some basic bulging vein effects which would be easy to make and use for your own film.
First, i'm going to start with the liquid latex alternative recipe, by taking a sponge and dabbing up and down the application area with some white glue. If you used actual liquid latex for the application, it'll most likely look better, but for cheapness (and ease of acquiring supplies) I am keeping to this method.
Now lay some toliet paper on top of that, and let dry (hitting with a hairdryer can really speed it up, like always.)
After it finishes drying, peel it off carefully.
Now, using a hot glue gun, draw your vain pattern on the strip.
Then, just dab some more glue under it and sticking it back on, then letting it dry again.
Now it's just a matter of building up the make-up job. Flesh and pink tones for the base layer, then if you want it red or inflamed looking (like if it's a transformation from an injection, or a zombie bite or something along those lines), build up some dark reds and purples. Then for the veins themselves, I built up dark purple and blue. The edges are kind of rough, but this costs almost nothing, and could easily be applied to almost anywhere.
