Colin: The Zombie Film
Old News, but I thought I would post this on the blog to tell the uninitiated about it. This year at Cannes one of the most talked about films didn't have a budget close to the GDP of most former Soviet splinter republics, world uberfamous stars, or a marketing budget that once again makes most third-world nation weep with shame... No, it was a little indie-British film that was shot for about on handycams.
Colin, which mixes up the Zombie genre a bit by following the monster around for the majority of the film, has been showing to packed houses in Great Britain, and has already lined up distributors for Japan. No new news on an American release yet (That I could track down anyway), but it's bound to happen sooner or later.
Regardless of how quickly it gets here, just once again highlights, underlines, and intalicizes the fact that you DO NOT need an amazing camera or a huge budget (or even tons of experience, this is the first film by the Director who admits to getting most of his knowledge from DVD Director Commentaries!) to make a movie that people will want to watch. You just need plenty of enthusiasm, and a love for what your doing. (Although plenty of friends helping you out, and buckets of fake blood thrown everywhere never hurt ANYONE.)
