BFX: Decapitation Effect
There comes a time in every filmmaker's life when he needs to lop off a head. When I was a kid, I'd cut the camera and replace heads with basketballs, but this is Erik Beck we're taking out, so you know things are going to get messy. Cuddle up close to your styrofoam heads, jugs of fake blood, and stunt dummies, and enjoy. You'll need the effects from our Limb Tear, Fake Heads, and Blood Shooter episodes to do this one. And check out Rambo, in theaters Jan 25!

wow funniest test video i've ever seen
Nice, we did something similar way back in the day, but the balloon is a new touch, and pleasingly clever :). But the way it was shot didn't really show off the effect. So, 30 points for the build, -5 points for use of shakycam.
I would've liked to have seen a slow-mo of the head chop in the test film... It went too fast.
^Slow-mo is WAY overused. Anyway, I thought this week was awesome. Much better than I was expecting. These test films are always so funny. Keep it up guys.

Super Spatter effect- Remove Balloon. If you just put enough blood in the tank to fill the line up to about an inch from the end- or the end- then close valve. Leave a cup or two of blood in the cannister and pump it as full of air as possible- then when you hit the release the blood will have a high pressured spatter/spurt effect rather than fountain- then just reload and shoot another take to edit together later. And if you can get a sheet of plexi glass, or clear plastic to hold in front of the camera- get in close so you can have blood running down the screen.
So AWESOME!!

though i liked stunt dummy, ninja 1, and cloning effect better...

Man, that sever was nice but alittle too shaky i, think i didnt get a clear view of decapitation, like i saw it but it was too quick, but other than that, i loved it, sorry im kinda in a critic-ish mood. ILY INDY MOGUL

Finally now i know the easy way to make a gore head choping scene and i was wondering when will you make a gore open cutting chest effect on your next episode?

use your test dummy and open it up,

if you were making a horror/action film and your actor was to shoot a head and make it blow up or splat, with brains and blood all over the place. Like the profesonials how would you do that.
