  • Ahroon wrote on October 22, 11:53 am

You could probably put a lid of a can or something circular under some latex or derma wax and put it on a string, yank it out real quick when you shoot the zombie.

They did it in dawn of the dead

  • SorcBear wrote on October 22, 12:23 pm

Fantastic zombie effects - makes me wish I'd seen this a few weeks ago before I filmed my zombie flick! Great idea having the skull exposed, I'll remember this for my next film. I almost make some guys myself, but I didn't quite have enough time

  • SGriZZ wrote on October 22, 3:27 pm

Awesome effects, a lot more convincing than the first one I must say, though I think the neck should be the same color as the face for more consistency

  • snicket wrote on October 22, 3:59 pm

    Cool..Great episode!

  • el_wrey wrote on October 22, 5:17 pm

is the next episode swamp monster?

  • Aspiring-screenwriter-pat wrote on October 22, 6:53 pm

You missed a spot under his nose. I kind of liked the original zombie effect better. The skull should have been bloodier, and a darker tone would have been more realistic.

  • Yansver wrote on October 22, 7:01 pm

Am I crazy, or is the skull and decayed eye on the opposite side in the test film?

  • ErikBeck wrote on October 22, 7:36 pm

The Super Time Lapse was filmed in a mirror. So NO, your not going crazy.

  • Jacob-ne-a wrote on October 22, 7:10 pm

I'm guessing that there's not many entrys for the pumpkin carving contest. THAT GIVES ME A FIGHTING CHANCE!!!!

  • super director wrote on October 22, 7:41 pm

the reason there aren't very many entries is because you have to be 18 or over!
i would love to enter but i can't.
i would use the weird blue pumpkins they have here in australia!

  • xara_sage wrote on October 22, 7:18 pm

i heard that after about a day the ballistics gel begind to melt

  • d wrote on October 22, 7:55 pm

  • devon23 wrote on October 22, 9:35 pm

haha great episode. I guess i'm the only one that noticed the shotgun mic in the test film. lol that's ok it was still fantastic. O and does the sign in the back say "tell us about your dead cat"?

it be really cool if you guys could wish me a happy birthday on your show; it's tomorrow. just kiddin you don't have to you guys do enough already. Thx indy mogul you guys are amazing

I gotta go get a pumpkin!

  • Cityscape Pictures wrote on October 23, 8:14 am

That was really cool, better than the previous zombie episode, coolness to the max for zombieness!! PS. Remeber, decapitation effect please

  • Cityscape Pictures wrote on October 23, 8:17 am

If you use sausage links with something to fill the gaps between each sausage for the guts, you can actually eat it and get a really good effect. The meat insde would look cool, but dont eat it if its raw just bite it and chew it for a while.

  • liamblackere wrote on October 23, 9:35 am

ok steve is eating pantyhoses at work

  • dylan (anon) wrote on October 23, 2:56 pm

okay, who is cooler: Tom Savini or Rick Baker?

  • Weker1 wrote on October 24, 11:21 pm

Good one!, Savini is better at gore but I'd say they are evenly matched when it comes to cretures.Though Baker did do AWIL!

What would happen if the wheel of prosperity accidentally landed on "trip -2- Jersey?" Or do you just choose a budget, and do a bunch of takes until you get the right budget?

  • xara_sage wrote on October 24, 7:02 pm

  • DaDragonChild wrote on October 25, 4:35 am

It would probably look more real if the plastic (exposed skull) was pounded with something to give it a rough, calcium-built texture. or something... haha

    zombie bones =]

  • xara_sage wrote on October 25, 11:46 am

Hey guys at IndyMogul.com the names Chris Baldwin, and I'm making an extremely low budget film, ranging from $400-$600, and well I need to make a scene where the guy gets his flesh from chest-to-lower belly button area ripped/peeled right off...I want to see this, but I need the skin peeled, and at the same time blood gushing from it.

Maybe like some red paint on the area...then a big blood bag made from plastic wrap above that, then TP and liquid latex over it all... Don't know PLLLLEAAASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

BFX: Zombies Revisited

In this episode of BFX, Erik takes Zombie effects to the next level. If an exposed skull and yummy non-toxic guts are what you dream about, then you're a sick person. However you should still watch this episode in all it's "gory". Also seek mental treatment. Check out the blog for more details.
