Yeah, what happened to Denny's? That would have been great. Although the girl at the ticket booth wasn't "amused," I must say that I was.

  • vivaknievel wrote on July 17, 9:15 pm

Okay. I've got a dead prostitute belly-up on a hardwood floor and I need to dismember her. I need to cut off her feet and hands with a hacksaw. I can do it at the kneecaps and elbows if I must (by simply tucking her ankles and wrists below the floorboards and using fake extremities in place of her real limbs) but I would love to find a way around this, if possible, and use her God-given arms and legs. Is this possible? Does anybody have any suggestions? I would love some CLOSE SHOTS of a rusty hacksaw tearing into her flesh. This may be Gore FX 101, but I simply can't figure it out. Any help?

And also, how do I rip out somebody's front teeth with pliers? Is that even possible on a $500 - $1000 budget? Any help would be appreciated.

  • bpompey wrote on July 17, 9:29 pm

I thought the zombie and cyborg episodes were great. I'm currently making a superhero film, and I need a very cheap way to create over the top costumes. What can you recomend. The show is great, keep up the good work!

well ive looked everywhere for a boom mic and i cant find one anywhere. where is the best place, or any place, to get one? thx

  • DrDoobious wrote on July 18, 4:56 am

A home made para-shoot sounds dangerous.... and lawsuity...

  • Justinsuperstar wrote on July 18, 10:42 am

(DEVON) Check eBay - just search for 'boom mic' or 'shotgun mic'

  • Vegemighty wrote on July 18, 12:48 pm

IMO Erik should do an episode entirely about acoustics. Like what the different kind of mics are and the best way to use them, what mics are best according to their cost-effectiveness etc. Because I think alot of people, including me, have no idea what theyre doing in this area

  • mystkmastkal wrote on July 18, 2:23 pm

    Toast

For the werewolf make-up, lookie here http://www.halloweendirect.com/stagemakeuptips/werewolfmakeup.htm

(Idea I pulled out of my ass in 5 minutes) > You may want to try some liquid latex, flesh toned then get an old, cheap wig or a doll from goodwill where you can cut the hair off the thing. Add that layer by layer for the facial hair look. You can also use Spirit Gum and Crepe Hair like Erik did for the old effect. I suggested the plastic wig hair because it'll be rougher-looking. Do the same to the lower arms (make sure you shave the area first before applying the latex because it will yank out the hair on your arms when you're cleaning it up. Also, you can use some make-up puddy for the abnormal bone-structure effect to the face, and if you wanted any cuts or slashes across the face, you can use the latex+toilet paper idea from the zombie diy vid.

    Aaaaaaaaand. Yuh

  • Giark wrote on July 19, 12:01 pm

For werewolf fx, you can also do a 'stages' process and use morphing (remember when morphing was the new cool thing?) to make it work. It's easiest to do when your actor is fairly still. If he jumps around a lot in agony as he transforms it's going to be a bit more difficult.

To do it, you need to prepare three or four stages of werewolfery. Greenscreen is a definite asset for this sort of effect but locking down the camera works too.

Shoot each stage of the makeup for the whole transformation scene. Then pick and choose crossfade points that match as closely as possible and blend. This is pretty much what the old school werewolf movies did.

Using a morphing program or plugin (I know After Effects has it) you can set up the morphs to bring an added bit of realism to it, moving ears, eyes, etc to match the next stage of the makeup. Add the morphing to the crossfades and you will get something that looks pretty sweet.

Os there any way you can make animal costumes like apes or dogs?
Or even make a fake gutair and drum set please?
    thanks

  • crazylegsmurphy wrote on July 24, 11:26 pm

[eg. vaseline for a sweaty look]

Glycerin mixed with water in a squirt bottle that can spray a fine mist will give a sweaty look that'll last a few takes.

hey could you guys make one on how to make a harness

  • pat wrote on August 11, 11:53 pm

    Two reasons it didn't work.

#1. The beard isn't believable, you would have been better off just dieing his hair gray.
#2. The old man voice and behavior was too over the top and fake.
