'Where The Wild Things Are' Movie Review

I haven't seen the film yet, but indeed I think I once read the book.

One sentence review: To prepare for this brilliant and deeply evocative movie, imagine that Carl Jung was contemplating isolation and difficult family dynamics, took some psychedelics, read "Where The Wild Things Are", then made this film.

One Sentence Review: This film gives new meaning to the oxy-moronic phrase, "classic remake," with an astounding combination of great low budget cinematography and high budget quality of effects, not to mention its inspiring music, however, the director managed to change an award winning bedtime-story into the depressing and anti-climatic memoir of huge, furry, hippies.

I know it was only a 9 sentence book but they totally left out the part where Max's room slowly transforms into a forest!!!! GAHHHH!!!

Sadly, I found the film somewhat meandering. I liked the parts without the wild things more than the parts with the wild things. Perhaps I just need to watch it again...

I give it a 10. Great writing, great puppetry, great acting-- all together this has been added to my list of favorite movies and also my list of favorite directors.

I went and sat this movie last night with my family and friends wearing Max's hat. It was a blast. This movie made me miss my childhood more than anything I've seen in years, even more than movies I've watched from my childhood, and I was almost brought to tears once it was over, just because I didn't want it to end. Thank you Spike Jonze. Thank you Max Records. You're all great people, and I'm glad you made this movie. Infact, if I won the tickets, I'd go see it again, and then go run down the streets and night messing with dogs in the neighborhood. Maybe I could get them to bark and run and the same time.
