'District 9' Movie Review

Refreshingly unhollywoodistic. 10/10

Brill. 10/10. Best movie that I have seen this year. Very refreshing take on an alien movie and has lots of deep meaning to it, especially with the references to apartheid. A must see film.

While I loved the movie 'District 9' I cannot fathom why there is a tendency for some movie makers who assume that a jerky hand-held camera gives a feel of reality. They seem to think that a documentary style movie is cool. It's as if they never heard of camera dolly. If a human is in a bumpy or fast moving situation the brain compensates for the movement so that it sees things clearly. The jerky camera is a hollywood fashion not good for people who may get headaches from this kind of movie style. Please give us similar good movies but in a style that we can watch.  MK

I for one think that D9 is one of the best alien movies ever made. I loved the way Wikus sees the Prawns as being inferior to people and treats them harshly, but as he becomes hated and vulnerable like they are he slowly comes to appreciate them and feel for them, symbolized by his physical transformation into one.

Total 10 in my book. The past 4 times i have been to theaters i have walked out feeling robbed, District 9 was a breath of fresh air.

Come to think of it, a bunch of cat food eating shrimp-hoppers that can harness intergalactic travel technologies and learn English, but can’t devise an equitable means of gathering used tires or overthrow a handful of thugs with weapons that have been stockpiled in their own shacks for two decades is just good writing.  Combine that with a few ounces of black liquid strong enough to morph a human into an alien and fly a massive ship, but gentle enough to allow for regressive evolution in three years, and there you have it.  Halfway through this waste of film, I wanted to punch it right in the plot hole.

A great movie with a deep meaning. Shows how humans are so quick to judge anything/ anyone they don't understand. Loved it! Highly recommend seeing it.

I haven't seen it yet, which does not give me credits to judge. HOWEVER, Plot or no plot, the concept looks really f*#^ing good. Come on, it at least needs to be held up as a creative take on alien contact.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH Y OU PEOPLE!  I CAN UNDERSTAND IF YOU LIKE IT CAUSE OF      ...OR ALIENS...OR CURSE WORDS...OR ACTION...OR THINGS BLOWING UP...OR CATFOOD...OR WHATEVER!  BUT I CAN'T STAND PEOPLE SAYING THAT DISTRICT 9 WAS A GOOD MOVIE!  YES ITS JUST MY OPINION, BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS BAD!  I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN MY MONEY BACK FROM THE CREATOR!  IF YOU DIDN'T LIKE IT, AND YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS GONNA GO SEE IT, TELL THEM NOT TO AND SAVE THERE MONEY.  TELL THEM TO SEE A PERFECT GETAWAY OR JUST SOMETHING ELSE BESIDES D9!  IT SUCKED!

ONE SENTENCE REVIEW: It's A Waste Of Money, F Word Flinging, Plotless Movie!  The only plot would have to have been when they had to go get the black gooish junk from MNU!  And that was about it!  The ending made me wonder if there is gonna be a District 10 or not!  The only part that made me laugh was when that one guy got torn apart limb from limb by aliens!  He was so mean to that one guy with the W for his name.

You really don't see any REALLY good movies around these days but d-9  blew it out of the water!! 10/10

Lets Just Say it was Better then Transformers 2,, it was Way Shorter and The Same amount of Action. An =10. :)

One sentence review: An unconventional social commentary, or an explosive and comedic mockumentary, District 9 is still still the most exciting film depicting African hard-times and injustice since Blood Diamond. 9/10.

This movie integrates an amazing social commentary on segregation as well the special effects are done semelessly in what seems to be a real manor and not obvious post production CG.

I've never gotten choked up during something so violent.

you should make a fx about this movie like an alien costume

This alien movie breaks the bounderies of the "Summer Blockbuster" way and stands out as a movie and not just mindless violence.

What do District 9 and the 2006 blockbuster Blood Diamond have in common? Well virtually everything! A unique story, compelling characters, intense action, and both based on a true story! haha. Lets hope District 9 will have the same success. 9/10

One Sentence Review: Peter Jackson+blood+aliens=Awesome

This was an amazing film. I mean wow, this is a film that reminds me why I love films. I did not have any problems. I've never had this much fun at a theater than I had with Dark Knight and Terminator 4. It shows the ugly side to humans that we are prejudice to people that aren't like us and the way we treat others. I never feel sympathy for CG characters or ceatures but I felt pity for the aliens. But if the director is going to do a sequel I'm all for it in fact it does need one. 13/10. But I do think That BFX should still do an episode for this.

Plus is it just me but did any one think that the alien kid remind you of yoda mixed with E.T.

I give it a nine.

Even with my love for D9 I know I still turn the channel when I see a commercial for suffering in third world countries, I wish it was easier to make change; "We are the same."

District 9[Neill Blomkamp] flawlessly uses a voyeuristic, "mock-u-mentary"  approach to filming in order to provide a realistic glimpse of humankind's carnal nature.  9.5/10

This movie blew me away with its story, characters, and effects, with the end result leaving me spechless.

My one sentence review. While its a very intellectual movie it left me thinking boom! headshot!

District 9 is a perfect sci-fi film that will make you want to see it multiple times the same weekend and still be blown away like a lot of characters in this movie.

Wow I didn't realize how dumb I sounded haha oh and I forgot to mention that they never explain how the humans and aliens can understand each other's language, but they both speak their own without translators or anything. Also, I thought about it and I think this movie deserves more of a 8/10
