'Australia' Movie Review

it doesn't take 24 hours to fly to australia if you live there like me. being an australian myself, i'm still not really interested in seeing the film, but i probably will eventually

This movie was a huge dissapointment for me for two reasons. For starters the entire middle of the movie was not needed and like the guy in the review said it seemed to be more about Kidman's and Jackman's character relationship as opposed to Australia in general. I do not know why they called it Australia because it had nothing to do with Australia other than the fact that it took place there. Second the director keep priding himself on the fact that they went on location to shoot the film but a third of it was either on a sound stage or in front of a green screen and yes it is that noticable. In the end the story makes no sense, and the cinematography wasn't as special as expected.

Grace - good interviewing :D I come from Queensland, Australia myself but overall find Baz's style a bit too arty and try hard in a speed-induced way though no doubt his unique style has put the spotlight on many up and coming local actors as well as established ones. I'm sure people will enjoy "Australia" overall and even if they don't, alot will pretend to like it to avoid supposedly offending an entire continent - (yet we here down under probably would be the first to says it's crap if it was). I mean there most likely would be an unexamined hush over a film if it WAS crap and titled "The United States of America". In this way Baz is smart in simply titling the film "Australia" as it's residents will be curious to find out what the updated inaccurate portrayal of OZ stereotype is in 2008- although this is period drama.
