You can do this effect more simply by using your camera. Take a shot of the pencil then hit your head on the pencil tip but stop there. Make sure your camera is ready to make a split second stop. Then remove the pencil and slam your head into the impact zone.

I am okay with there being a star wars fight scene in every Your Fx.  I would be okay with 43 diffrent star wars fight sequences in the tutorials and the montage.  I won't however stand to have another Your Fx that is missing talented women.  Where are the Fx ladies???  Lets have a challenge to see how many women we can get to submit to Your Fxs.

can I have the serial for final cut pro?

Does anyone know of a good link to a site or page that describes some other cool camera effects and techniques like the contrazoom? Like that don't require any extra equipment. I thought it was awesome and want to learn what other techniques are out there that I've never heard of.

for the pencil trick... I'm pretty sure in The Dark Knight they just banged the guys head on an empty table, after establishing that the pencil is there.  That is way easier anyway.

i was the one at like 3:00 to 3:05 i threw the knife, and this was an OLD video i made!

In the movie "Dark Knight" you never actually see the pencil go in the person, when the Joker grabs the guys head, the tables out of shot and they don't tilt down until after he's hit the table and "pencil" revealing that the pencil's gone.

Apparently that zooming technique was discovered by Hitchcock when he was playing with his camera drunk... dunno how true that is, but deff. makes for a good story, lol
