Of TOS, I prefer Wrath of Khan. Of TNG, I prefer Nemesis. I like the newest one pretty well too.

This effect really came in handy... One small issue I faced was the black background, if anyone else is having the same problem, you can either chromakey out the black on the effect, or change the opacity.

Wrath of Khan is my fav. The new movie is pretty awesome though. I hope they make a few more with the new cast.

The basis for the original effect was actually Alka-Seltzer in hot water.

I like it when effects are physical AND digital. The best of both worlds! As for my favorite...the brand new one! (I hope!)

Great build. Nice to see something done using mostly the old way. My fave Star Trek movie...definitely Wrath Of Kahn!

Here is another way to make the effect

1. go to "Paint" or any other program you can color with. 2. Use the spray can or whatever the tool is called that is like spray paint. 3. Use gold or yellow or whatever color you want, on a blue backround and fill an area full of little sparkles. 4. know make six more or them so that they all are different. 5. film your actor like he is about to be beamed up, then have him get out of the shot and film the area, but try not to move the camera. 6. In your editing program place your two shots next to each other and add a fade. 7. Next Import all seven of your pictures and place them one after another then repeat them until your actor has completely faded away. 8. Then remove the blue background so that all it is is the sparkles. and there you have it, free way to make the effect and you don't have to download anything.

OK the build was cool and all but there is another way to do it, where you don't have to download anything, and it is free.

First Favorite Star Trek. I concour with "Double Dumb ass on you" and say Voyage Home. It was fun and not overly serious or dramatic. Now for the real reason for this post. Thank YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. for a practical effect that doesn't require me to spend my morgtage payment on a software solution. THANK you!

Wrath of Khan is undeniably the best trek film ever. It is the Standard by which all other trek films are measured.

I agree about The Undiscovered Country, but The Voyage Home was awesome, too. Sometimes it's more fun to do practical effects instead of digital ones. Good episode. And, finally, what's up with the fancy phasers? I guess we'll have to wait for the test film to see.
