Why on earth didn't you drill the hole before all of the sanding? I think I can safely say that dry fitting any build before adding details is good practice.

Here's a hint: Drill your holes into the blanks before you spend all that time crafting perfectly edged and smooth claws.

Instead of Plexiglas (acrylic), use Lexan (polycarbonate.) It's a bit more expensive, but it's nowhere near as shatter-happy as Plexi. It cuts *very* nicely with a fine jigsaw blade, even the thin stuff. It will likely be a bit more durable if it gets roughed up on the set as well. After all, Lexan is what they use to make windows for race cars, and bullet-proof glass!

to all those people who want a throat slice, i can tell you. Their are two really good ways. 1: Make a clay (ben nye sculting materials) strucure of a wound thats skin coloured or can be painted. Detail a slit red, but make sure it can seal lightly together. Add blood tubing under the sculpture, and make sure the tubing has multiple spread holes in it. Poke holes in the clay in the same spots. When you shoot, and your actor is wearing the appliance, feed the tubing through their clothes. Make sure your actor keeps there head facing forward. when you make a cutting action with a fake knife, pump or blow the blood slowly, as not to come out in unrealistic and perfect streams. When you make the action, the actor lifts their head high to open the 'clay' wound. For extra realism, fill the slit with thick fake blood so when it cuts, the blood dribbles and sprays. Way Number 2: (For Close-Ups) Get a melon and hollow it out extremely thin. Put on skin coloured latex on outside of the melon. Fill the melon with fake blood, (not thick blood). Insert a tube through top of the melon, and seal with duct tape. Show area on camera where you want to cut. Slice with knife while someone offscreen is blowing or pumping blood through the tube. (Melons are also good for head smash effects, just dress them up in hair, fill with gore, blood, and fake brains, and cause mayhem however you like.

Wow, those look very realistic. This process might work for all kinds of prop weapons. Are you gonna complete the look with a little liquid latex so it looks like they actually come out of your skin?
