I would not had done the falling FX it looked un-real

I'd use this in a fantasy movie where a character falls or gets thrown off a castle roof.

I used this build it rocks you guys rock thanks for the help keep doing what your doing guys .............PLEASE!!!!!!

i made my dummy like this: torso:old pillow and hoodie arms:sticks and duct tape legs:old pants and water bottles feet:shoes head:nerf football covered in tape and an airsoft mask.

a hidden blade would be cool

We did a simpler dummy using a foam wig head and paper painter's cover alls for the body. Stuffed it and painted it much the same way. It needed to be light because a guy in a 7 ft tall lizard suit was throwing it. That was in "All Wrapped Up". Then, two years later and using your "tear off a leg" tutorial we used what was left to rip a character in half for "Indiscretions". Worked pretty well. Then I gave it away because my wife wanted it out of the garage. All the fake blood was attracting ants.

My friend made a dummy and we used it for our remake of Twilight (We are only 12) also, i think you should make a video of someone jumping out of a plane or some one getting their hair ripped out

i tried to make one but it sucked maybe i had the wrong tape and how do you make the head and cut the torso and pants

sweet now i got someone to punch to death and it isnt eligal

when i say tape it to the chest, i mean put a peice of tape on all side of the paper to the dummy. also when i say potato heart i mean the hole thing like the container and do that container thing for the intestines to. you guys should try it. my dummy is rigged to blow! hidden blade plz.

hey erik u should try a mod in a new video. i modified the dummy, i hollowed out a hole in the chest and put a potato heart in the hole.coved up the hole with regular paper, tape it to ur dummy then punch and rip! u can do this in the gut area for intestines, like in the zombie revised video, and in the head for a brain. plz try my mod erik! also plz make the assassins creed blade effect.

how would this cost?

do you know how to make a durable head for it like a foam one in the make and break fake head episode but stronger MACS RULE!!!

I know this episode is old and all but as I scrolled through the BFX episodes and crossed this one, I noticed that maybe you could bend a (wire) hanger and put it in the limbs so they don't flail around as much.

this is my favorite video on the website! ive always wanted a stunt dummy. mine isnt the same but it works just a well. i just took some old clothes and stuffed 'em full of paper and then used my good buddy duct tape to put it together.

I like steves New York Film Academy shirt at the end of the dummie episode...I go there.

We made a decent stuff dummy back in 1962 and through it off some vacant buildings in Cleveland Ohio. It was a real traffic stopper!!

Great episode. You always have something fun to watch. Plus most of the time the info is very useful. What about making a kool vampire bat that flies down to attack a victim for the Halloween show?

also if you tape a couple of ziploc bags filled with fake blood on its back or front or whereever he'll land it gives a nice splatter effect

I tried it with my arm and.... I didn't know I was supose to cut the shrit too... I still can't find my finger lol, you sould put up the build plans in the blog, anyways I have a Challenge/ Request: Fake Bones/ Skeleton. A full body skeleton that you can brake and crack can it's bones for hopfully under 50 dollers. Thanks, you guys have done so much for my filmmaking. Also people who like make-up and stuff .. wait a couple days after halloween and you can get stuff really cheap im talking like 50 cents cheap .. it's not the greatest make-up in the world but if you have the talent (and i know you do) you can make it look awesome.

Haha! I made one of these for a movie I made called The Dangers of Video Games. It was fine even after we hit it with a car.

BlOoDrEdSaNdMaN67: We cover fake weapons in the original "Q and Erik" video. It's not exciting enough to really do a whole episode about, since it's a very simple thing. Just buy fake swords, or paint a toy to look more realistic. No trick. That's much easier than making something.

This one is fricken awesome Erick! Seriously, I wouldn't have thought of the duct tape design. But is there anything that you can use to stuff the dummy other than newspaper? I'm not sure I could find that much newspaper just lying around. Also, doesn't a fullsize human need a lot of newspaper for the stuffing?

i was thinking of using the principals of the fake hand mould to mould my face and make a latex duplicate i was wondering if this would be possable and if it was in any way dangerouse P.S if this worked it could be used to make the duct tape dummies more realistic

Hey everyone! I also thought it would be cool to attach the fake head from before, but forgot to mention it. The reason the wheel wasn't in this episode was because it was in a box being shipped across the country. It will be in the next episode. Also we'll stop recycling quick tips. Next week spaceships!

Some of those shots were pretty good. You can combine this with the falling effect Steve did on Weekend extra.

Allso!, My failed move effect was two years ago and the lead was the last one alive(ZOmbies!) and was going to shoot him self in the head so I set up the shot and attached a license plate to the back of my head whitch is where I put the Condom filled with fake blood unfortantly It wouldnt go off!, it might be for the best since I had no ear plugs and had not tested the how powerfull the the Water Dyno (Water proof firecracker) was against meatal! Another failure was I had a magazine with a peice of metal in the middle of the pages Strapped to my chest so a friend could throw a dart (from a dart board) At my Chest, He missed the Magazine...., Och!

Allso if you look at the fake head episode you you could attach the fake head to the ducktape dummy and have a car or what have you destroy the head, this could prolly allso work with a squib or a sword slice! Fill the middle Of the dummy with fake blood and you could get a great slicing in half look, just remember to cut to the actors face for a good darthmaul effect!

Yeah stunt dummies are awesome. We made one for my movie The Dangers of Video Games, and we hit it with a car at like 40mph. And the dummy was fine! It was amazing.

Yeah, it was Ok. We once made one using socks... I liked the idea about using duct tape though, very cool. But there's one thing- Why did you greenscreen yourself into the old BFX building? It just brings back the old memories!

use plaster of paris instead of newspaper and make a holllow space for fake blood if your gonna chop his arms off!

Nifty, I actually never thought about making a dummy like that. More or less I just sew thin and durable fabric together and stuff it with newspaper. Now, I can use the stunt dummy and the fake head effect, and then throw that off a building and it's head can actually go splat. And look awesome too. Excellent work, Erik! And Steve, that duct tape looked pretty painful. XD
