I just realized where I'd heard Tyler Perry before! why did you use the name? It bothers me now every time I see this test film!

  • knyazprime wrote on October 19, 9:09 am

I'm lov'n the new format of test films on their own days. It seems like you guys have more time to do more intense test films...and it shows.
Of course my favorite is still the steampunk film...!

  • Explosion Mainiac wrote on October 17, 11:12 pm

    That was amazing!!!!!!!

  • Papi (guest) wrote on October 17, 8:35 pm

  • egomaster101 (guest) wrote on October 16, 4:43 pm

woah!!!I like the test film but ripping the guys face off was scary, even for me.But whatever can you do that effet for monday please or is it like two face or something?

  • The Chad Rocks wrote on October 16, 11:33 pm

It's actually very simple.. What I did was:
1)buy some fake skin and blood gel from your local halloween or party store.
2)knead the fake skin until it is workable and smash it against your actors face.
3)pull open a pocket in the top of the fake skin and drip some fake blood in.
4)re-apply the fake skin on top, sealing the pocket of blood.
    5)peel away!

Great job guys! But... how did you get the underwater shots?

  • The Chad Rocks wrote on October 15, 11:30 pm

Indy Mogul actually provided us with an underwater rig for one of our cameras.

  • BRANDON (guest) wrote on October 15, 6:05 pm

  • DementedlyHappy wrote on October 14, 9:13 pm

I think the face clawing was unnecessary and kind of a cheap thrill, and perhaps more background on the supernatural pool would have been good. Sorry I'm being so picky. Everything else was incredible!

  • Russell_Rules wrote on October 14, 9:19 pm

We had to keep it short, so we couldn't get too in depth. But who knows... prequel anyone?!?! :)

  • haunted productions wrote on October 14, 8:32 pm

poor steve how did you guys make the guy get his face ripped off

  • Russell_Rules wrote on October 14, 8:56 pm

Chad can probably answer this one better, but if I remember, I think it was as simple as applying fake skin from a Halloween store to his cheek, but putting some fake blood or blood capsule underneath it. Wasn't much to it if I remember, but it definitely looked great.

  • The Chad Rocks wrote on October 14, 9:33 pm

I actually just shot a quick video of how I did it.. I'll post it as soon as it's done rendering.

  • Aspiring-screenwriter-pat wrote on October 14, 7:46 pm

The mask might have been more realistic if it was done in a darker shade of green. That bright stuff looked pretty unnatural. Although for the film it didn't matter because it was in black and white.

Wow jumping into a pool in October, talk about suffering for your art.

  • The Chad Rocks wrote on October 14, 8:15 pm

Yeah, Steve was a real trooper. Poor guy was blue after we took the mask off.

  • razaksroughnecks wrote on October 14, 7:30 pm

That was really well done guys. Did you use an effect to make the film jumpy or did you have to do it manually?

  • Russell_Rules wrote on October 14, 7:44 pm

The film jump was a combination of two After Effects plugins. The slight twitching the film does throughout is done with Magic Bullet Misfire from Red Giant (as was most of the look of the movie). For the parts simulating the bad film gate at the beginning, end, and during the monster attack, I used a plugin called Twitch from VideoCopilot.net. It's got a nice "Bad Film Gate" preset you can mess around with.

  • The Chad Rocks wrote on October 14, 6:18 pm

Thanks Wraith!!! And no Dr.Nogood, we actually went with black and white last minute simply because I felt it was already a cheesy video and felt very 50's sci-fi and horrorish, so I proposed the idea of black and white and everyone agreed. We may have a director's cut soon with about 2 extra minutes as well as in color. We will keep you guys posted via the forum.

  • Russell_Rules wrote on October 14, 7:47 pm

Yeah, with the director's cut, I'm gonna go for trying to make it look like bad 70's color stock.

  • rockinrocker wrote on October 14, 5:36 pm

    um hi

  • techfilmspresentations wrote on October 14, 5:02 pm

Awesome test film! It was great from what I saw, but it just cut out at the 1:33 point to the symbol that says "Replay". Anyone else?

  • Wraith 5 wrote on October 14, 4:40 pm

    Looking awesome Immortal dog!
Well that's my halloween costume sorted this year..

  • super-moose wrote on October 14, 4:33 pm

"Or perhaps... we were the monsters all along" hahahahaha. Nice. You guys should do a pinhead from Hellraiser FX in this year...

  • Dr.Nogood wrote on October 14, 4:15 pm

That was really good, but did you use the old film color effect to hide where the skin and make up meets?

  • Ed (guest) wrote on October 14, 4:10 pm

cool test flim. What is next's costtume

  • Tony Bullard (guest) wrote on October 14, 4:05 pm

  • BlueDudesStudios wrote on October 14, 12:52 pm
