it was very cartooney but was very funy and i like when steve directs
I like it when steve directs
was that real fake blood when steve was shot at the end? or was it CG?
It's pretty obvious. Just pause really fast at 1:25. (It's CG!)
HIS BRAINS ARE FLYING OMG... poor steve great effect
nice episode! I want a shirt =D
The video is stuck when hes looking at the symbol playing monkey :(
And i refreshed it a few time to...
That's happening to me too. I wanna see the episode. :(
Not working for me either, jusst hangs at the beggining. In fact thats happened all weekend while I was looking up some past videos. I think theres a problem with the next new networks video player. Any mods wanna comment on this?
its cymbal
Now its not even playing the start :0 NOOOoooo....
I hope admiral bananas becomes a regular part of the show
yeah, it won't play for me either. Tried two different browsers, numerous times. I hope the youtube verision'll work. bai
Haha. Awesome show guys! The effect wasn't amazing (I mean, the whole wall chunk came out. It should have been lightly cut into smaller chunks, but we get the point).
The test film was awesome! Great job Steve!
Hell yes great show gentelman and congrats on the Merch, ill be plaving my order son hopefully. Peace
I need a cool plastic bag choking effect for cheap. How do I do that?
Just do a bunch of quick shots and switch your actor to a fake head as you cover it w/ a plastic bag. That way, none of your friends smother and you've got an awesome way to off someone in your movie. Great effect, by the way.
I've made a break away wall before all you need is a bunch of old shoe boxes a sponge some paint and card board. First paint all of your shoe boxes like bricks then take your card board and make it look jagged in the middle and do it again to another piece tape them to each side of a door way then film a real wall then film a close up of the fake one breaking away and then shoot your actors reaction.
Nice King Kong reference in their.
*there
Great Episode. Anyone else catch a Boondock Saints vibe from it?
yea, hehe that was a fuckin sweet movie
ha, nice Jurassic Park reference
the video keeps getting stuck at the zune arts commercial :(
try watching it on indymoguls channel on youtube.com
BEST ENDING EVER
Loved the JP reference, gotta go check that movie out again!
Nothing went rong for me! Full vid played
Awesome episode! Good build. It was very useful. Admirla Bananas was hillarious, and the camio by the Samaritan was cool too.
Gota Be Honest Loved the effect But the Jagged hole just didn't sell it for me.
I get that the Test Film(Love the JP Line)was supose to be funny but it was just a bit cartoonie.
Couldn't a thin Plaster wall Honey Combed(Many little holes in it that are only visable close up) Work well and be jump throughable with out the aid of cutting?
Another Victom Of The G-Rage...Poor PE...
If you guys really don't like the effect you can just really throw your actor through a real wall! Nah don't, just you a thinner material like paper and add layers and if that doesn't work through a dummy through the fake wall, just way him down with stuff and chuck him, and you really only need to get the effect of him smashing through the wall others you can cut the scene where you get the reaction shoot of your real actor falling. But still you guys did a great effect
Great episode guys.
Thanks
ps, get ready to sell some shirts.
this episode was epic!!
great build
great test film
finally, a mogul store!!!!
Awesome. I must have a revolver toting gorilla in my movies now.
I tried downloading this episode but i was able to
Sweet!
Aw man, $25 bucks for a t-shirt, you guys are awsome and all, but not $25 dollar t-shirt awsome. unless you through in the clapping monkey
throw, sorry.
did anyone else catch the king kong reference
Your Idea for a smashing wall is ok, but if you dont mind i would like to show yall how i make mine.

that was awesome but my friend rockstar341 and i are making a batman movie and i want indymogul to make an episode on how to make your own joker thug mask. please make an episode. here is a link to see what i would like the mask to look like--http://api.ning.com/files/3SLkIqSVKznIV6mj5zVdy-1iJKrllj0tNmRpCQgQBxw_/Forest.jpg
Once again Jared is the scene stealer. I think Jared deserves his own indy mogul T-shirt.
I want that gun.
Did you guys make it yourself?
it's from the Hellboy good samaritan episode.
check the other videos and you'll see how Erik made it.
your a moro
n of-course you re head
HA!! 1933
I must confess I only watch you guys because of your test films... aaand because I could sit all all day watching people making stuff.
This test film is one of the funniest so far. Keep up the great work!
Agree with Rambow702! I'd to see how to make a Joker thug mask, too!
that fuckin' cool guys.
keep up the good work.
I've been trying to find one of those cymbal monkeys for years. Could you E-mail me as to were you bought it? Thank You.
You can get a cymbal monkey on eBay. That's where I got my trademark monkey. The one Erik has in this episode is known as a "Charlie Chimp" and if I'm not mistaken, was made in the 1970's.
I'm seriously going to get one of those for my film club, maybe 2! Have a bunch of crazy people break through walls all at once. You think this effect could also work for ceilings and floors?
Hey Steve, NIce line
"Cleva Girl"
which was off of Jurassic Park where the park ranger gets hunted by the Raptors...Nice film though:)
i hope to god you read this,
now you have done a chainsaw hand
and wes did a tut on a gauntlet, i have one more evil dead 2 request, in the scene when ash cuts off his hand, how do u make a severed hand crawl across the floor, it looks cool but must be exstremly difficult and i know its not stop motion
look up fake moving hands
could you please show how to make a ''big baby'' gun for cheap
Hey Mr.X, check out this link: http://www.indymogul.com/episode/BFX_20080707
sorry, i forgot to mention that the gun i've mentioned is from hellboy
great test vid!
Eric Beck's constant pointless hand motions make me want to kill somebody.
love the monkey being a drummer and all
i realy liked that one. could you on safe braking glass
they already made one on sugar glass
they already did this
I mean the glass thing
...i requested this too... u didnt mention me in the video :( oh well
yes!
i needed a car to crash through a wall!
thank yooooou!
can you mak a glass smash through wall please
I loved this video. This was the only effect that I couldn't figure out how to do. IndyMogul rocks!!!!
STUDS ARE VERTICAL NOT HORIZONTAL!!!!
HAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
i meant for those to be spaced and oriented more like wood lath in a plaster wall.
I liked the test film a lot! :) Very funny!
Is the gorilla a pun?
I imagined a sequel of the test movie, called:
Planet of Apes: Gorillas Invasion
It's about an emerging gang of killers, wearing gorilla suits, soon after Planet of Apes is becoming popular (either 1969 or 2001?). Initially, people are in panic and think they are aliens :D because the costumes are armored and never a "goriila" has been killed. :-P
I'm curious, could you have done this with one sheet of dry wall instead? You use a single sheet, painted on either side to match the environment, and score (pre-cut, but not all the way through) where the actor will go through. All the dust that comes out with the actor really sells the effect, and then there isn't the jagged cut out laying there with you.
I'll concur about the stud frames. Houses built after the seventies use drywall (or sheet rock it's sometimes called) and the slats on the side were unnecessary. Maybe something like short lengths of wire or dust would be better.
I'll also agree that the cut out section could have used some more sectional cutting. But I could be way off my rocker on that one.
Test film was awesome. I've been watching you guys since the beginning and I love what you do for the independent film maker.
4 Minute Film School suggestion: How framing the shot off level, in close, far out, or panning can enhance the emotional response and other story elements of a film.
wow, i definetly agree with ur idea for 4 min. film school. Also, i found a cheap way to do "wire fu" (aka the Matrix effect):
all you have to do is set up a dolly track around ur actors tht r fighting. At one point yell "Freeze" and let the camera (on the dolly) travel around the frozen actors. Now, this is only for fight scenes; i haven't found an easy way to do this w/ dodging bullets. If u don't have a dolly (like i did when first trying out this effect), just take ur camera and walk around ur actors.
What?! I requested this too! You guys are-
a few weeks ago i put a better design idea in the forum
OMG tht was great!!! Jared is awesome and i luv when steve directs; fav line: "Good god man you are a f***ing moron!"
i need a good editing software that you can put clips on top of eachother and use green screens but i dont have very much money at all
can you suggest any?
attack of the gorilla! lol!
PPPLLEEAASSEE make an alien like on alien vs predator
evil monkeys!
Question, could you do the same effect, but instead, use foam blocks?Or would it not look as good?
Can you make a special effects dinosuar look like its eating a guy?
in a futer episode, you guys should make admeral bananas tell us its a trap
that would be way funny
wow that is crazy you guys can build a wall! do you think you guys could build somthing a bit bigger like a phonebooth?
Nice job with the wall and funny video as always. Actually the biggest laugh I got out of this which most might miss is when you said to "cut your 1x3's to form a basic frame then measure and cut again." I had to rewind to make sure I heard that right. LOL.
that monkey had the good samaritan
Nice, but studs go verticly through a wall but you put them horizontally
Good principals, but the effect wasn't very realistic. The zig zag edges were unrealistic as was the single piece which came out. In the future you might want to try rigging the section to come out in several pieces and have some additional assorted debris come out of the wall.
to lazy to build
yay for monkey
Dude that monkey is just creepy.
It's cheaper and more realistic is you just buy one or two drywalls from Home Depot or Lowes or wherever since they are usually around like $5 each and get a jigsaw and carve into one side but not through completely and make some gashes and whatnot. It'll make the drywall weak enough o break through with no problems and noone gets hurt. I know cause we dd that for our short film Jake's Revenge and ti came out great.
Hey, I have an idea for a way to improve your wall. When you are doing the front instead of cutting out one big jagged piece cut out a bunch of small ones so it looks more realistic and the pieces fly everywhere, cool right?
