There's actually a third option, buy some cheap SLOs (sword like objects) from Trueswords.com. A full tang stainless steel SLO will set you back about twenty dollars and it'll look more realistic then cardboard they'll probably be more durable too. If you want to go really cheap they have stainless steel rat tail tang ninjato SLOs for ten bucks a peice.

    The Shiriken looked pretty good.

Hey, that test film was sweet. A few small extensions of the black curtain and it'd be perfect. Even though I saw the swords being made, the sound effects almost completely sold them as real metal for me. If they'd been tailored a tiny bit to the environmental sounds and the cardboard one didn't look so beat up, it would have been perfect. Where'd you get the sound effects from?

  • chris (anon) wrote on November 13, 5:42 pm

you shouldve gone to cosplay.com and looked under the fourm props and accesories. if you do a search (on the right hand of the bar at the top) you would be able to find instructions on how to make realistic looking katanas out of cardboard.
and bill totally kicked their asses.

BFX: Ninja Swords and Flying Ninja Stars

If you could ask a ninja one thing, what would it be? Well, if you asked about swords and ninja stars, then Ninja Erik Beck has your answers. If you asked about the thousands of years of dynamic history within the ninja legend, then go read a book you nerd!!!!
