Sweet Episode Erik! I vote for the "Pipe through the Eye" wound, but the gunshot wound was awesome as well. I did find though that the head smash wasn't realistic at all.. Shouldn't the head explode and not just squirt blood? Can you make an episode on set making, or tips on how to make affordable sets? Also, can you make an episode on brakable props, such as vases, bottles, etc. One last thing: "If anyone is wondering why the glass in the fake glass episode is yellow, well i read that it could be the cause of a cheap corn syrup that has a tint. Better quality corn syrup should clear the problem. I don't know if anyone wrote this before I did, but I just wanted to put it out there. Till next friday guys!

Hey guys nice DIY video. I liked most the clone-killin number 2. It seemed a bit more realistic then the other deaths.

If you want a more realistic head and can afford a higher budget, you can make a mold of the actor's face using alginate, and then cast a fake head from that.

The effect doesn't work very well when you're that close.

I liked the possiblites with #3. Though, there wasn't tons of "carnage" shown, I could see doing quite a bit with it.

Hey! Great vid. The one I liked the best was either the gun shot wound or the one where he was impaled in the eye. They were the most realistic. You could see white from the styrofoam when the other one was crushed, so Probably the gun shot wound. The other one was cool too, but I certainly wouldn't be using it as much. Bullet time (sorry, but I really want 2 see it done!)

Hey Erik n' Company There is an old School Effect That I think Tom Savini Prefected.
And what it is, You place A thin Layer Of Nose n' Scar wax over your actors face(where ever the shot is, Forehead is best)And you paint the forehead red before applying the wax then what you do is put a round flat(Soup can lid, Buttin,Meatl Washer, What ever)under the wax And to this you attach a string and then painting the wax to look like the rest of the forehead You have the string off camera and when ready You pull the string , A sound effect later you have a very odd looking guns shot effect!
The 1970's Dawn Of tHe Dead did this effect a few time, most notable the Sniper Sceens.
And I'm sure you could add a small amount Of blood Betweek the washer and the forehead!

I liked the 3rd death mainly because of the clone heaven joke.

check this! you cut the head in half just below the chin, now paint the inside of the fake neck, now flip te head over, hollow out about 3 inches and duct tape in a blood pack, now latex the 2 parts together and you got a head cut off dummy!

and for fingers in eye sockets, before you apply the pait job, cut in a little extra in the eye area, after the paint take some fake blood and fill in the sockets, now take two balls of mashed potatoes with some paint and place them in the sockets!

now for spilled brains! do the whole injury #3 routine but before you add the blood add some coliflower brains then the blood!

replying to randdomann, i think the brick one worked fine. The white from the styrofoam could just be played off as the skull, depending on how thick. Great job on the video, i thought all were great.

personally, I just think that the whole video was pretty sick.
like not as in cool- but as in severely disturbing.
Why on earth would you do something like that?

I liked the cinder block death the best, but it didn't have enough blood oozing out of the front of the face (where it split)

The eye stab was super awesome as well, but if it could be improved, may I suggest a glob of eye goo oozing out as well as blood. that would add to the realism. all three were great!!!

I think it would be better to modify the jaw using clay or foam or putty to make it look like the mouth is open. After all, who get's shot, impaled, or crushed without screaming?

i noteiced in the video you said the balistics gell was in a previous episode and in the detaild plans you said that you were gona make a weekend extra about it so im confused!!!

i would of liked the last one if the foam would of been red because since its white you can see it when it cracks id suggest you find a way to soak red into the foam or get a red foam head or something like that

FRIGGIN' SWEET!!! My favorite was impaling him in the eye. It was a little rough around the edges, effects-wise, but it was still pretty realistic. I would have LOVED to see some brains comin' outta there, though.

can u crop with wax im only eleven and use only freeware

if you want to really make your dummy look like your actor you can always cast it, you'd only need some alginate and then use some plaster or whatever you have in hand to make the cast, a pound of alginate come out to be like 20 bucks or so, but you can probably get some very cheap at ebay, you can carve your own head! if you're artistic enough, just buy some urethane foam which comes out to like 5 bucks a pound. or hey take tom savini's 16 months make up fx course, if you can afford it.

oh and my fav head was the one chris shot, maybe because i loved how you(or whoever is the camera man) moved the camera around the gun, great shot. (:

I love your show, but the safety advice about wearing a painter's mask- not so much. Painter's masks stop particulates. dust, and small droplets. These masks do NOTHING about fumes, and a lot of the people injured or killed by organic vapors are using non-functional protective devices.
If you're working with fumes, without an actual proper vapor cartridge resirator, it has to be outdoors, with a fan, and that's still dangerous. Basements are absolutely forbidden (vapor pooling) and even garages are dangerous.
I know we can't keep everyone out of the Darwin awards, but I hope this helps.

How do you make the heads explode?And what are the other ways to make good fake heads?

when i went on a special effects crash-coarse we made plaster-casts of the actor/model's face and filled them up with ballistics gell/conventional gelatine to create a realistic face. the back of the head can be cast seperately or covered up with a hood or wig with some stuffing, and you can use a conventional make-up set to make it look realistic. though somewhat timeconsuming, it can be done for just a couple of bucks, and once made, the cast can be used over and over and over again. the only thing i really hated about this was the actor/model needs to breath and keep his eyes shut when the cast of of his face is made. this means that when you need a head with opened eyes you'l spend hours sculpting his 'new' eyelids and implanting fake eyes. and breathing through a tube while plaster is hardening around your face can be quite scary and means the mold will have holes in it which will have to be sculpted out. if you're in a hurry, i'd go for the foam head. but if you can find the time a gelatine head can be done for hardly any money and it looks way better (no offense).

i was one of the people asking 4 this episode and i loved it the gunshot death was fantastic. how could you blow one up i tried fireworks but they didnt work 2 well.

Wow! That was really good! Good job on keeping the makeup on the real and fake heads as similar as possible, because it turned out really well!

Hey, I got an idea to make this better! If you can't paint real looking eyes (Like me, and probably everyone on this site...) you could take a picture of your eyes, print them out, and glue them to the fake head!! That way you don't need those crazy glasses!

Hey eric, I watch this moive again and again and well I was thinking, the exploding head was cool but I was woundering how could you decapate a guy like that? I was thinking with the face blood shot (Sorry I can't remember what the name of it was exactally) and some little stuff like ground beef, and corn syrup, food coloring and a nice squeesh sound could be shown after you knock off "your friends fake head" but I was thinking do you feel as if you would want to try it? I understand if you don't but I think it would look rather cool if you ask me. :D Oh and by the way are you going to be doing any halloween specials? It would be cool lol. But yeah I'm not a film maker even though I have been watching moives like this for years maybe I should try but yeah I was just woundering what your thoughts would be with this one lol.
