I have to say the one you made yourself (3rd option) was the best choice. However, the coloring was a bit to red. I'm pretty sure brains are more white-ish or pinkish.

  • PeterBan wrote on June 25, 12:07 pm

I like the first and the third one... the second gelatine brain didn't look very real.. Ooh.. I'dd love to see the Robots an Cybogs episode... I think I can use something from it for my star wars movie

  • Sammy wrote on June 25, 2:56 pm

Hey man. I'm loving your videos! I think they are totally immense and will help me out a lot. For the brains:
I think the last one, the third one, was the best. It looked better than the others, but it was a little big, but I guess it expands when you pop it out of someone's head, and besides, us, the viewers, can change it anyroad.
    Absolutely great vids dude!

thanks for the DIY please make some more zombie related projects like "how to make biteable skin" or something close to that. - Vincent

  • Dylan from ZFX wrote on June 25, 3:33 pm

I prefer the 1st and 3rd brains. Looked more realistic. And for shooting, I think chronological shooting is better because if you get an actor who is a prick you can just kill them off and you won't have to deal with editing them out of scenes further on that you've already shot.

  • BradyH wrote on June 26, 4:29 am

Quick question, do you think you could make a fake bat? You know so we could those fake brains out of some zombie heads.

  • hairydevil5 wrote on June 26, 7:09 am

hey bfx i just joined and think your website is really cool. i just was wondering if you could do an episode on those huge poofy mats that the stunt doubles land on.

Hey, thanks for this ep. Erik. My freinds and I are shooting a short on 'Area 15' the human research center in the future after the Earth has been subjugated by aliens. This helped a LOT in the museum scene with all the body parts.

  • Panpukin wrote on June 27, 2:06 pm

I LOVE the third brain. It looks the most realistic.

  • Sal wrote on June 27, 9:48 pm

hey guys. i love all the work you guys do. my freind and i are making a sci fi styled movie and one of the characters is extremely skinny. any help? en episode on realistic weight changes (fat, skinny, extra extra huge) would be really nice. or even a short on editing on clothing or camera techniques would be great. thanks.

  • lhr95 wrote on June 28, 10:26 am

hey Erik try making an underwater camera

  • Brain-frag wrote on June 28, 12:07 pm

I thought the 1st and 3rd had to be best because if you were making a zombie movie you'd want to be able to actually eat the brain! (can you eat gelatine?) aswell as they were homemade which i would think gives you more satisfaction once made

Anyone know any good movie editing programs?

Keep up the great work Erik and co.!

  • PeterBan wrote on June 28, 2:04 pm

    Hey all..
maybe you can answer this question... I want to make my self a brain, but it has to be able to go under water.. do you think Erik's design wil stay OK under water?

  • john wrote on June 28, 9:15 pm

my friend always used to talk about brains

  • hairydevil5 wrote on June 29, 4:52 am

man this is really cool but i have a question, in the episode with the gunshot wound effect, how did you make the gun flash? thanks

  • WesScog wrote on June 30, 1:03 pm

For those discussing the color, it really depends if the brain is alive or not. Living brains have blood pumping through them, so they are quite red, the have a pink tone, with millions of tiny capillaries pumping fresh blood giving it overall a reddish tone.

Also, if a brain was torn out, or being eaten, while the person was alive, there would be a lot of fake blood.

Brains only look pink or grey, when they are removed and preserved.

where can I get the mold for the jell-o brain, and how can I other organs?

  • SunneyTehBunney wrote on July 4, 9:53 pm

    DayDreamer- http://www.spirithalloween.com/decor_entertaining-party-supplies/gelatin-brain-mold/

Here's the link for the brain mold. :)

I couldn't find any other molds on that site, but I'm looking!

  • SunneyTehBunney wrote on July 4, 10:05 pm

    OK found more links;
You can buy a lot of awesome props there. They are, however, quite expensive but they seem to be of great quality and...really gross!: http://www.nightmarefactory.com/

You can find a lot of ideas there, they have a few projects for making body-parts : http://www.halloweenmonsterlist.info/

    Make a severed hand/arm!: http://www.hitchin-haunt.co.uk/cgi-bin/arm.html

Uuuuuuuuhhh...D: yeah I'm sure that'll help. Hey ERIK! I'd love to see you guys make a dead body....and then you dancing with it.

We all have our weird fantasies...that's mine.

  • davada wrote on July 8, 3:06 am

I think the third brain would be best for just a prop that isn't going to me touched. But for a zombie movie, you need an edible brain that won't go crunch and will be juicy and squichy and maybe even a little stringy. Also, I wan wondering if you could maybe do a quick little 30 second exerpt on good exposed brain... Looking at other comments, I think you should just do another zombie episode.

  • trebor117 wrote on July 9, 5:43 am

I agree u should do a zombie special (Bad spelllir)
Also Sunny thanks for the links (And are u guy cause if not the body thing and erik gets creepy).(er)

  • SunneyTehBunney wrote on July 9, 6:12 am

Lol you're welcome for the links, and no I'm not a guy. Doesn't my name seem feminine? And besides, even if I were a guy...what's wrong with wanting to see a handsome fellow prancing around with a FAKE dead body? Come on now, have a sense of humor. I'm wild enough to request a dead body but stealing one from a morgue is such a bother, I don't think they want to go through all of that.

  • The Nutter wrote on July 9, 5:07 pm

    How HUGE is that brain???
Useful tip: you can get an idea about the size of your own brain by placing your two fists together.
    Love the show.

Pssst: Brains are gray, not red. Make sure that the blood doesn't dye whatevery you're using. Anyone know how to achieve this? Perhaps an acrylic wash?

  • momo (guest) wrote on October 5, 5:48 pm

I agree with you, brains are gray!!!!!
But still, the three of 'em are great.
