CTO and CTB are not also known as plus or minus green. Plus green and Minus green are used to create lighting effects on a standard light to look like a florescent light, and a florescent light to look like a standard light respectively.

there is one little thing about this you want to watch out for in terms of color correction. When using a gel to color correct a tungsten to daylight or vise versa you can not just use any orange or blue gel. There are party gels that simply change the color of the light which will not work for this. You will need to use what is called Full CTB for Tungsten to daylight and or Full CTO for Daylight to Tungsten. They are also known as plus or minus green gels. If looking to buy gels for color correction keep this in mind.

Excellent DIY segment. My only concern is with the way the dimmer is finished by wrapping electrical tape around the whole assembly. My advice is spend a few dollars for a metal outlet box and wire clamps to make your dimmer a little more sturdy and safe. Keep up the good work!

YOu forgot to mention that if you use a piece of paper for WB it should be held up near the actors face so the white is under that specific lighting. It does no good to WB to a color spectrum that isn't there.

HEy Guys, a white balance card I beleive(For manual white balance) should be held next to the subject you want to film, ) put your camera where you will be using it from, and then zoom in on the card to fill the screen . if you just put the card up to the camera where ever, you're not going to be getting the correct settings. If you to Rosco's webpage, you can email them and ask them for a swatchbook of there gels and filters, it is free and it gives you a sample of what you may need and what they look like. So you don't have to spend a lot on gels and filters that you really don't need.
