Very good job
THIRD
Fantastic stuff, guys!
this isnt the first time youve killed yourself in a film steve
does anyone else think that he looks like he should be a member of run-DMC?
Remember kids.. not all Film Noir is "night".. While it's true that "Film Noir" got it's name from the lighting used in the films of the genre, there is a certain number of elements needed to make a flm into film noir.
The primary element is that most Film Noir seems to be "detective fiction" or based on a "Mystery" plot. Films also don't need to be *IN* black and white to be Film Noir. I definitely agree that most Noir has a "dark" mood, and most often, a "dark" protagonist.
The wikin on this subject is pretty interesting, and contains a good number of film titles to check out. If you're thinking of delving into this style, I HIGHLY reccommend burning a weekend with a film-marathon... Go through the wiki and pick out 10 films you haven't seen.

Great project. I think I'll have some of my film students do one of these.
oh my gay.... people.. even if you dont smoke you can handle one drag from a cig to make the shot work(if your old enough) as a smoker im not saying its ok... its descusting and im tryign to quit... but for a shot one drag isnt gunna kill you... and if you are young.. find the right bubble gum cigs or make one out of paper itll look the same and you can add smoke in how ever you want during the shot or in post... btw steve great job with this im workign on a film noir story now so this helps...
^you dont even have to inhale^
Best episode to date...lots of funny
That was pretty cool but could you show us how to do what they did in Sin City where only certain things are in color? If not what do they use to do that.
Very stylish, lots of food for thought there
that was 4 min 43 sec, but that's ok
nice episode but i will not be using it
You said it in the video to shoot in black and white but I've read you should always shoot in color then go back and desaturate it with your editing program because color video has much more information and better quality. Is there a large difference between the two?
changing it in post works but it may be too much info and come out with an un wanted effect.. you should test with both and see what works best for you...
Hay How did you guys get that gunshot effect it was really neeto
look back at old episodes they mention really cool sites that have great free sound effects
Do you guys really smoke? Or is that like a fake cigarette that you use in some of your videos?
I'm guessing this is an answer to my video question about smoking in film noir, thanks a lot guys!
patatoe salad...my only weakness. how did you know???
Killer Episode Steve-o
How did you do that smoking effect?
That was one of the best things I have seen ever, it's even better then the Giant sandwich.
Excellent job!
Steve It is gonna be hard to top this ep!
Great F-ing JOB!
Hoochie Mamma!! That Girl looks hot!!!
Remember, lock your exposure and disable the auto focus (catch those things on this video)
STEVE SMOKES?!?!?!?!?!?!!?
OMG Look at the posts above! Steve has said that she just smoked for the film noir! Jeezo.
that....
was absolutely awesome...
you are by far the best indymoguler steve
and you totaly bogarted every shared scene. you even outshone the femme fatalle...
steve nelson. yu are my all time favorite internet personality.
ps. you should grow a mustache, it looks great on you
Dude that was creepy.
DONT GET JUSTIN ANGRY!!! hahaha that was awesome good job and i actually learned a lot. Learning is fun (but not really)
hahahahaha that was great Steve. Very informative too.
Steve probably doesn't smoke. It's an effect. If you can see your breath outside, then you put paper to your face, take it away and just breathe.
I also have a question. What did steve use for the cigarettes, is it some sort of movie magic? If so could you show us how to do it?
I have a challenge for you Indy Mogul. Have you ever seen Monty Python The Meaning of Life? Well if you have you probably remember the famous Mr. Creosote skit, where an extreemly fat man walks into a fancy French restraunt, then explodes after eating everything on the menu. My challange to you is create the blowing up of his body for a minimal budget, and make it look just like the movie. Good Luck!
Heres a link to the exact part in the movie incase you need to view it a few times...

Hey Steve, Great Job! Seeing as I'm filming a similar film right now this was PERFECT! Keep up the GREAT work!
Cool I was mentioned!
Pretty good episode. I liked how the tips were laden in the story, not just blatantly stated like some of th other podcasts *cough*shirtless apprentice*cough*.
As opposed to the blacklisting that's done by Hollywood today against filmmakers who aren't members of the DNC? Seriously, Steve, if you're going to make a political statement like that, it helps to understand BOTH sides of the story.
that wasnt a political statement.. it was an observatory note about the past.....
Does Steve actually smoke? Or did you guys get fake smokes?
Nevermind. ^^;
Watch Sin City; it's one of the greatest movies to study how noir movies work, and is a kick A movie.
Cool. I never really quite understood what film noir was.
Very nice! Steve your a fat butt! lol
Hey kids. Don't smoke.
Great episode.
i didn't know steve smoked!!!!
I don't, just a part of film noir!!!
How did you make the smoking effect then?
Haha!!! cool effect
Great video :D
